The Atwood-Higgins property in Wellfleet's section of the Cape Cod National Seashore is an important historic site. And while a tour of the main house itself provides interesting glimpse into folkways of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, I've become more fascinated by some of the deteriorating outbuildings like this one that sags a fair distance from the main house, framed by old, gnarled trees, a riot of colorful wildflowers, and ghostly echoes of the past.
